About Our School
Walter and Gladys Hill Public School, located in the heart of Eagle Ridge, will open its doors to students from Timberlea and Parson’s Creek in September of 2014. This public school has a capacity for 600 or more ECDP to grade 6 students and will host multiple innovative programs which will be announced early in 2014.
Annalee was selected from a strong pool of candidates and brings 8 years of administrative experience to her new role. Currently the principal of Greely Road School in Fort McMurray, Annalee arrived at the Fort McMurray Public School District in the fall of 2002 where her roles have included teacher, LAC and Vice Principal before becoming Principal two years ago.
“Annalee Nutter has a strong skill set that makes her an excellent selection for opening our new school,” stated Doug Nicholls, Superintendent. “She has demonstrated through her work at Greely Road School that she supports innovation, is student-centered, works well with parents and has a clear focus on the community. Her energy level and her commitment to a collaborative approach with staff and parents will result in our students excelling.”
“I am very excited to be opening a brand new school which will offer the opportunity to create a vision for future 21st Century Learners,” Annalee commented. “Our focus will be to empower students by developing the competencies necessary for Alberta Education’s Inspiring Education as well as to give students a voice and choice through Project Based Learning. We will have a dynamic and talented team of educators who are looking forward to beginning a new journey with happy, energetic students and creating a positive community with parents who are involved in student achievement.”
Walter and Gladys Hill will be the second new school opened by the Fort McMurray Public School District in four years. Ecole McTavish Junior High School became Fort McMurray’s only junior high school when it opened in 2011 and is home to the elite Edge Sports Academy. The Board of Trustees is pleased that another new public school, Christina Gordon Public School, will open in September of 2016.
