Learning Assistance Coordinator

Hello!

I am Mrs. Leckie the LAC (Learning Assistance Coordinator) at WGH. I am from Nelson BC. I attended the U of A where I received my teaching degree with a minor in Special Education.

I have been teaching for 13 years. 5 years in Early Learning and 8 years in grade 1. I have been teaching with FMPSD for 10 years. I helped open Walter and Gladys Hill School and have watched the school grow and have met so many amazing families!

When I am not teaching I am being a mom to my 2 boys and daughter. We spend most of our weekends at the hockey rink, Dance studio or at Lacrosse. In the summer we love to camp and go back to BC to visit.

Teaching is my passion and I love learning from the students every year. Each year I look forward to watching your children grow into unique and wonderful little learners who are like sponges and absorb everything taught to them. In my role I get to work with so many amazing students and am often in and out of many classrooms during the day.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
