Learning Commons Librarian

My name is Li Xie, or you can just simply call me Ms. Shelly. I was born and raised in Shijiazhuang, China. Before I came to live in Canada, I worked as a Junior High Language Arts teacher for 5 years. After obtaining my business accounting diploma, my husband and I moved to Fort McMurray. I worked as a payroll administrator in a local company for 4 years. After being a stay-at-home mom for a few years, I decided to join the Public School Division. Before receiving my position as a librarian, I used to be an EA, supporting children with various needs. As a full-time librarian, I am able to incorporate my love for reading and organizing to create a comfortable learning environment for students. I am also always here to assist students and staff with any help/teaching or learning supplies that they might need to help them be successful!

I have two lovely daughters, one was a former Raven and one is currently a Raven. Away from work, I enjoy doing activities with my kids, such as swimming, badminton, biking, and yoga.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
